Spearheading community efforts is the agency board of directors made up of residents, parents, community workers, and active members of the Asian American community. The board advocates for community needs, plans and evaluates programs, and develops overall agency policy and direction. Board members work with the staff in developing an annual workplan each year. The agency director reports to the board, while each program makes a full program report to the board once a year. In addition, the board has an advisory board of over 30 members that meets quarterly. It is made up of individuals who are committed to the mission of BCNC and share their expertise, ideas, and help leverage resources to support the agency.
The BCNC is also active in neighborhood and Asian American issues. The Center is a founding member of The Chinatown Coalition, composed of community residents, organizations, and local institutions and a founding member of the Chinatown Community Education Partnership which focuses on the educational and job skill needs of adults in the community. The BCNC shares resources and ideas with its neighbors in the Quincy School; the South Cove Community Health Center and the Josiah Quincy School.
