While Asians are the fastest-growing racial group in Massachusetts, access to mental health care is limited due to the lack of culturally responsive resources for Asian communities, including the Chinese-speaking community, as well as the cultural stigma associated with mental health. We are committed to strengthening the mental well-being of Chinese-speaking immigrant families through providing culturally-tailored and linguistically accessible training to service providers and community members.

Mental Health First Aid

BCNC partnered with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to provide a culturally-tailored, Chinese translation of the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses: Youth MHFA and Adult MHFA. BCNC staff certified as MHFA instructors and have a background in mental health counseling and social work reviewed the content translations for cultural responsiveness and relevance. The Chinese version of these courses helps increase access to mental health support as more providers, parents and caregivers, and community members learn to identify, respond to, and support individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. We provide MHFA trainings to community members and developed the Mental Health First Aid Trainers Network for Chinese Speakers.

Asian American Mental Health Coalition

If you are a mental health professional in Massachusetts who identifies as Asian or who works with the Asian community, you are invited to join our monthly meetings for resource sharing, peer support, and trainings.
