Celebrating Student Achievements in English and New Jobs

July 22, 2025

This past year, 400 adult immigrants from 10 different nations studied diligently and gained English and workforce skills through BCNC’s Adult Education and Workforce Initiatives. Each and every BCNC ESOL student demonstrated commitment to learning while balancing parenthood, work, and other life responsibilities. At the end of year celebration, students shared speeches about the impact of BCNC classes, received certificates and awards, and celebrated the year with highlight videos and heartfelt messages from staff. By the end of the night, not a single slice of celebratory cake remained. Congratulations to our students who are advancing to higher-level classes, going to job training programs, and starting new jobs.

“When I first joined BCNC, I honestly didn’t think I would be standing here making a speech in English. Back then, even ordering coffee made me panic. Because of BCNC, we had the chance to grow, to improve our English. Now many of us are more confident and ready to find jobs and better opportunities!”

Ling, Level 2 Student

Speaking about her experiences Liang, student from Level 2 class shared:

“I have been studying English at BCNC for one and a half years. In this year and a half, I have learned a lot, which is very helpful for my life and work. Studying at BCNC makes me more confident and courageous. I can now communicate better with my children. Many of our classmates are new immigrants. We all face difficulties in life, but as long as we continue to study hard and try our best, I believe things will always get better and better. Thank you, BCNC. Thank you to my teacher, Kevin. Thank you, everyone!”
