Strengthening Asian and immigrant families

The Lantern Festival Gala serves as the biggest fundraiser for BCNC, raising much-needed funds to provide holistic, family-centered programs reach 13,000 children, youth, and adults each year, setting them up for success in school, work and life.

The Gala brings together partners, supporters, and community leaders for an evening of celebration and connection. The evening begins with an exclusive reception for sponsors, followed by festive cultural performances. Finally, guests will enjoy a delicious 10-course traditional Chinese banquet at a local restaurant.

All funds raised will support holistic, family-centered programs for immigrant children, youth, and adults.

BCNC has experienced an increased demand for our services to help Asian and immigrant families thrive in school, work, and life. Each year, BCNC serves over 13,000 children, youth, and adults, of whom 78% are low-income and 41% are immigrants. Most recently, BCNC has been providing referrals for legal support, supporting families in crisis, and responding to the loss of SNAP benefits to our families by providing grocery gift cards.

Performing Artists

Leona Cheung

Leona Cheung 張力安 (Music Director/Pianist) a Hong Kong–born collaborative pianist based in Boston, is recognized for her expressive artistry and musical leadership. She has performed internationally across the United States, Canada, Europe, and China. A specialist in vocal repertoire, she collaborates with leading choral ensembles and serves as a staff pianist at major Boston institutions. An advocate for art song, she presents thoughtfully curated recitals and champions new works. Hana Yiu

Hana Yiu 姚曉嵐 (Contralto) is a contralto from Hong Kong, currently based in New York. In 2024, she partnered with pianist Leona Cheung to premiere the Cantonese art song “Soaring into the Light” at NYC SongSLAM, which celebrates AAPI voices and her cultural heritage. An active choral artist, she sings with The Riverside Church Choir and has performed with The Unsung Collective in collaboration with the New York Philharmonic, appearing in an oratorio honoring American singer and activist Paul Robes. Mrs. Yiu received her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from The Hartt School, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Learn more at stagetime.com. Nüwa Athletic Club

Based in Boston, MA, the Nüwa Athletic Club provides an environment for Asian American girls and women to enhance their physical and emotional development through teamwork, sportsmanship and cultural activities which includes but is not limited to lion dance.
