English for College and Career Readiness classes will teach you language and skills needed for your everyday life, your job and career, and college. Classes include educational and career advising as well as optional one-on-one tutoring.
Schedule:
- Tuesday and Thursday on-site in Boston or Quincy, Wednesday online
- 10:00 am – 12:30 pm or 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
- September 2025 – June 2026
- 7. 5 hours of class and 2.5 hours of homework each week

Requirements:
- Attend all 3 days of class
- Complete a registration form
- Complete placement tests and interviews on English reading, writing and speaking

Level 0 – Very Beginner (Quincy only)

Level 0 is for students with little-to no knowledge of English. This class will help you take your first steps in English and communicate more easily with people in your community. You will learn:
- How to introduce yourself, ask questions, listen for information, write messages to people in English, and learn English over the Internet
- Simple English pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing
- Basic computer skills and other skills for studying and communicating in English in school, at work and in your community
- Knowledge of American culture

Level 1 – Beginner

Level 1 is a beginner level class that will help you become more confident about speaking to other people in English. You will learn:
- How to use polite English to ask for help, listen for information, write polite emails, and use the Internet
- Basic English speaking, listening, writing, and reading
- Basic computer skills for jobs and college
- Additional skills for jobs and college

Level 2 – High Beginner

Level 2 is an English class that will help you improve your English skills for jobs, job trainings, and college through classroom instruction, online learning, and field trips. You will:
- Learn vocabulary for speaking, listening, writing, and reading for better communication for your job and at school
- Practice speaking and giving presentations in front of the class to prepare for academic group
- Practice writing emails and short essays
- Use technology to continue online learning
- Increase your knowledge of college and work life in the United States

Level 3 – Intermediate

Level 3 is a class where you will develop and refine your skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through a variety of engaging and practical experiences. You will especially focus on improving your reading and vocabulary. You will:
- Continue to develop your college and job skills to help you achieve your personal, academic, and career goals.
- Read news to improve your reading for college
- Practice completing projects and speaking in front of the class
- Prepare for and attend community events
- Use technology to complete your classwork and do research

Level 4 – Advanced

Level 4 is an advanced English class. You will learn the English, professional, and technical skills that you will need to apply for college and/or take the next step in your career. You will:
- Write professional resumes and cover letters
- Learn techniques for researching using the computer and other reference materials
- Practice writing essays for college applications
- Strengthen your job interview and networking skills
- Discuss current events and other real-world issues
- Study and prepare for college entrance exams
- Prepare to take the next step towards your academic and career goals: finding a meaningful job, entering a job training program, or starting college.
