ESOL for Customer Service Training Students Graduate
Our Winter 2020 ESOL for Customer Service students celebrated their graduation. Speakers Yoyo Yau, BCNC Director of Programs, Clare Shepherd from the Office of Workforce Development, and Chris Gaughan from Primark commended the students for their hard work.
The graduates made speeches about what they learned and their futures plans.
Wendy immigrated from China and was working in a job where she mainly spoke Chinese. Before she came to the class, she felt that she was confused about her future. She found it difficult balancing her family life with her career. Wendy wanted to explore more jobs and be able to practice her English, so she came to BCNC. After 10 weeks of study, Wendy improved her English and applied to new jobs using the skills she learned.
Lindyneia is a recent immigrant from Cape Verde: “I just came to the U.S., so it’s hard to get a new job. This class is very helpful and everyone is so friendly. My English has improved in speaking and writing. Now, I know how to look for jobs online, how to write a resume, and how to talk to customers.” Using her new skills, Lindyneia applied for a job, interviewed, and got the job!
