Meeting the Needs of Quincy Families
Thanks to the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund and The Boston Foundation, BCNC was able to directly serve 162 adults and children in the South Shore area, over a third of whom were new participants.
Staff helped 114 immigrant adults with finding resources for basic needs, unemployment benefits and legal rights, and providing counseling, case management, and parent support groups.
Family Services provided support groups and education workshops for 28 parents of children with special needs. In the Strengthening Families workshop, staff facilitated activities between 10 parents and their children.
In addition to services, staff translated resources into Chinese and posted information on WeChat, a popular Chinese social media app. The weekly updates included vital information about meal distributions, COVID-19 updates, emergency childcare, as well as resources to combat bullying and anti-Asian racism and at-home activities for children.
