BCNC Staff have a Retreat for Trainings and Team Building
At the end of June, the entire BCNC staff came together for the first-time for a memorable and impactful all-staff retreat.
The day kicked off with breakfast and warm-up activities, where staff learn fun facts through game. This was followed by specialized training sessions. The child care staff attended a workshop on communicating difficult conversations and topics with parents, while all other staff participated in YW Boston’s presentation on "Addressing Implicit Bias."
The highlight of the retreat was when all teams creatively showcased their accomplishments, highlights, and learnings from the past year. Presentations included artwork by Red Oak Staff, an episode of Full House from the Adult Education team, Family Feud led by the Development Team, Bingo by Pao Arts Center, and a Taylor Swift montage by our CEO and CPO. The Adult Education staff and teachers stole the show, winning the prize for the most engaging and creative presentation.
Stephanie Fan, co-founder of BCNC, inspired staff by sharing BCNC's long storied history, the struggles and triumphs of the community, and reminding staff of the significant impact of their work.
In the afternoon, staff bonded over various activities including learning how to knit with Knitly, making terrariums, theater games with Vermillion Theater, and an escape room.
The day was filled with learning, laughter, reflection and meaningful connections. Staff members left feeling more connected on a deeper, more tight-knit level, setting the stage for continued growth and collaboration in the year ahead.
