Support Team BCNC At The 128th Boston Marathon

Taking on the 128th Boston Marathon, Team BCNC charges ahead with a dynamic lineup of five resilient runners, each bringing their diverse backgrounds and unwavering spirits to the race. Emerging from different parts of the world, each with unique running histories and fundraising experiences, these individuals share a common goal: to strengthen the support system and the sense of community for Asian and immigrant families.

Each runner aims to raise $10,000 throughout their training and competition. Their donation campaigns are live on GivenGain and welcome your support from now until Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. Dive into their inspiring stories, get to know these remarkable individuals, and extend your support!

Corinne Wee

Meet Corinne, a surgery fellow, recently move to Boston from the Midwest. She took up running in high school for sports and later embraced marathons in medical school. Passionate about empowering Boston's Asian community, she had previously served on the board of Harvard Alumni for Global Women’s Empowerment and founded Row for Boston.

“As an Asian American, I am thrilled to support an organization dedicated to providing essential resources and support to Boston's Chinatown community,” Corinne shared.

David Kok

David, joining us from Malaysia, has an impressive record of completing major marathons in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Malaysia, London, Chicago, and Berlin. His marathon journey began in 2018 with the China Coast Marathon (CCM). The Boston Marathon will be the final race on his checklist to complete the Big 6 Marathon series.

As a British-Chinese individual, David eagerly seeks to leverage this fundraising opportunity to “strengthen community ties and fosters and sense of unity and solidarity among individuals and families,” David said.

Jeanelle Tsai

Jeanelle, the youngest member of Team BCNC for the Boston Marathon 2024, is an active member of BCNC’s Bamboo Circle, a network of dedicated young professionals in Boston focused on bolstering Asian communities.

Her involvement as a mentor at BCNC's Youth Center has fueled her desire to further contribute to the community through fundraising. “Getting to bridge the running experience with supporting an organization that I have become passionate about is a once in a lifetime experience for me,” Jeanelle shared.

Oscar Martinez

Joining us from New York City, Oscar brings an impressive track record of completing five marathons and seven half marathons across the globe. Alongside managing his own business, he passionately supports his local church with his wife.

As a first-generation immigrant from Nicaragua, Oscar deeply appreciates the assistance his community provided when his family first started out in the US. This experience has instilled in him a profound understanding of the importance of community building, inspiring him to give back.

Stephen Ting

Stephen Ting, a New York City resident and founding partner at Ting + Li Architects, has been a dedicated participant in the New York City Marathon for nine consecutive years. This year, he embarks on a new challenge by venturing into the Boston Marathon as a fundraiser.

Encouraged by tremendous support from friends and family, Stephen promises a successful fundraising campaign for the 2024 Boston Marathon represents Team BCNC.
