BCNC Adult Education proudly celebrated the graduation of 8 dedicated students from our STEP into Healthcare (Skills Training for Entry-level Positions in Healthcare) program. Special thanks to our guest speakers for inspiring our students including Liz Hughes from the City of Boston, Office of Workforce Development as well as Saikou Bah and Abdoul Ba, BCNC graduates.

Over three months, students successfully completed intensive training designed for English language learners seeking full-time, entry-level employment in the healthcare industry.

Kenia was a healthcare worker for over 10 years in Dominican Republic before coming to the US. She shared:

” I moved to the USA in 2021 since all my family members live here and I’m the only one missing,  and to build a better future for my children, my family,  and myself. I joined BCNC because I wanted to improve my English, learn new skills, and prepare for a healthcare job. At first, it was not easy, but the teachers and staff helped me every step of the way. My classmates also supported me, and together we learned and grew.”

Reflecting on her experience, Edlyne shared,

“Thank you to the BCNC team. You not only taught us English but also you provided us with technical knowledge to facilitate our integration into the healthcare field. Let us uphold the values of professionalism and ethics that we have learned.”

Special thanks to our employer partners Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Mass General Brigham, Tufts Medical Center, and Boston Medical Center.

The STEP into Healthcare Program is supported by the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, the MassHire Metro North Workforce Board, and the SNAP Path to Work program.
