2021: AAPI Empowerment Project started

Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of Problem Gambling Services, BCNC started the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Empowerment Project, to implement a comprehensive gambling prevention campaign and raise awareness of gambling addiction for the Chinese-speaking population in Boston, Quincy, and Malden. This partnership strengthens the relationships of organizations to provide resources for the AAPI community. In 2024, the coalition grew and expanded its reach to Vietnamese- and Khmer-speaking populations in Greater Lowell and Greater Worcester.

The AAPI Empowerment Project is a coalition of organizations that share a common desire to increase awareness of problem gambling prevention and improve holistic well-being in AAPI communities by providing alternative social recreational activities. The collaborating organizations provide various social recreational activities at their different locations.
