What You Will Do
The Child Care Staff is a member of the BCNC Adult Education and Workforce team. Adult Education prepares adult immigrant learners with the education, training, and guidance that lead them to successful employment and family-sustaining wages. You will strengthen immigrant adults and teach individuals English and the critical skills they need to thrive in today’s economy. You will report directly to the Director of Adult Education.
In this role, you will:
- Provide a warm, nurturing, safe, and child-focused classroom environment that supports children
- Provide care for one group of up to two dozen young children in a public school classroom, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, 4:00pm – 7:00pm, mid-November to late June, while their adult family members are in a nearby classroom
- Set up and clean up the child care space before and after each child care session
- Present a friendly and professional tone in interactions with families
- Maintain regular work attendance and punctuality
What We Look For
- At least 18 years old, with a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have 1-2 years of experience working with toddlers or school-age children
- Meet the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) background check
- Be able to manage children in the classroom
Working Conditions
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday
- This position involves performing essential job functions in typical work environments, including but not limited to offices, classrooms, or community settings. Duties may require routine movement such as walking, standing, and bending. Depending on the role, responsibilities may also include the ability to move items weighing up to 25–50 pounds, and the use of computer equipment and effective communication. All essential functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Compensation
$28.00 hourly
