Families Gathered for Bonding and Fun in Quincy

On 星期六, 六月 20, 1,400 children, youth, and family members gathered for an afternoon of bonding at the BCNC Family Fun Fair in Quincy. Held at Joseph W. Koch Field at Atlantic Middle School, the event provided free activities, crafts, games, and performances for all ages. The event fostered social connections, connected families with educational and wellness resources, and increased awareness of problem gambling and mental health.

Bartholomew Jae, BCNC Board Member and Quincy Leadership Council Co-Chair, kicked off the Fair with welcome remarks. The City of Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch acknowledged the importance and contributions of immigrants to the Quincy community. BCNC Family Services staff, Ying-Chen Wang served as the host and interpreter. Special thanks to our volunteers including employees from State Street Corporation, Bank of America, and M&T Bank for ensuring the Fair went smoothly.

The Fair offered important health and educational resources. Lead Sponsor Tufts Medicine provided health screenings, and BCNC programs distributed flyers for English classes, child care, parenting workshops, and mental health support services. Families and children engaged in Lead Sponsor PNC Bank’s Grow Up Great station, which combined play and education with interactive activities and giveaways.

Lion and kung fu performances by Wah Lum, vocal performances by Cambridge Chinese Choir Society, traditional Chinese dance by Boston Chinese Dance Group and Happy Dance Team, musical performance by BCNC Youth, along with an interactive taiko demonstration by KASA Taiko and Friends showcased community through music, dance, and storytelling.

The event culminated in a Sponge Bucket Relay contest that brought together participants across five age groups. A special combined group featured parents and children working side by side, that highlighted family bonding and connection. Winners received gift cards donated by local Quincy restaurants Rubato HK Cafe and Le Madeline.
