1987: Oak Street building purchased from the City of Boston

Following years of legal battles involving the City of Boston, New England Medical Center, and the Chinatown community, the Boston Redevelopment Authority sold the building at 34–36 Oak Street to BCNC for $1. This allowed BCNC to negotiate a land swap that would secure its future permanent home on that very site.
