Congratulations to Graduates of the ESOL for Customer Service Training Program
BCNC’s ESOL for Customer Service Training Program Summer 2022 Cohort just wrapped up with a graduation to celebrate their achievements. James from Haiti, Charifa from Morocco, Sylvie from Haiti, and Cynthia from China are the students that graduated from this cohort.
Each student took turns to give a speech on their personal immigration story and how BCNC has empowered them to achieve economic success and emotional well-being as they settled in a new country.
“I am so thankful and glad at the same time to be part of this prestigious institute. BCNC has given me such a good education,” said James, who moved to the US in April 2021. Before immigrating to the US, he worked as a senior economist in the Haitian Public Administration for 10 years.
“I appreciate BCNC for giving me the chance to take a customer service class. BCNC also helped me create a career plan to reach my goals for the future,” said Cynthia. She immigrated to the US from China 3 years ago and is now a medical receptionist at South Cove Community Health Center.
“In the BCNC Customer Service class I learned how to speak professionally and maintain great relationships with customers. The teachers and counselors also worked with me to connect with employers and get them to see the value I offer,” said Sylvia, who also immigrated from Haiti in 2016 and is hoping to land a position as an administrative assistant, as well as setting a good example for her children.
“We have been in Boston for a year now, and it has not been easy, especially since I don't speak the English language fluently. I decided I must put a lot of effort into integrating into the US society, studying, and working. That's why I chose to take the BCNC English for Customer Service class. It has helped me improve my English and present my skills in the best light to employers,” said Charifa. She moved to Boston in hopes of becoming a researcher in a large US laboratory and completing her doctorate studies.
Again, congratulations to all of our students. We can’t wait to see what you will achieve next in the future.
BCNC’s ESOL for Customer Service Training Program is a free training for Boston residents who are intermediate English language learners seeking full-time entry-level employment in the customer service industry. This program is funded by the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, and is a SNAP Path to Work program.
