Congratulations Graduates of the ESOL for Customer Service Training Program

BCNC’s ESOL for Customer Service Training Program Fall 2022 cohort wrapped up with a graduation to celebrate their achievements. Xiaoyu, Liam, Yueer, Pei Chen, Trinh, and Wenjiang each gave a speech about their experience at the program.

Liam, from Nanping, China, shared that prior to moving to Boston, he was working in a factory where he repaired machinery. Now living in Boston, his goal is to own a house where his family and pets can live.

Trinh is from Vietnam. Before moving to Massachusetts, she lived with her sister in Georgia for 7 years where she was working as a nail technician, but doing nails was not her passion. “I came to Massachusetts for more job opportunities and to learn new skills,” said Trinh. With her goal of becoming a real estate agent in mind, she enrolled at BCNC in hopes of getting a job that will give her relevant experience.

Xiaoyu is from China. In his home country, he worked as a director and a financial advisor. He shared learning a new language was his biggest challenge, hence why he enrolled in BCNC’s class.

Yueer, from Taishan, China, came to the U.S only 3 months ago in hopes of starting a new and better life and meeting people all around the world. In China, she worked as an editor for a Chinese magazine for 3 years and 6 years as a Mandarin and Math teacher. “I think the biggest problem I encountered when I came to the United States was communication and culture,” shared Yueer. Despite these challenges, she has a goal of becoming a teacher that makes children feel safe, happy, and excited to learn.

Pei Chen came to the U.S from Taiwan 22 years ago with her husband. English has been a challenge for her, but that didn’t stop her from signing up for classes to improve her language skills. After the graduation, she found work as a nanny and is currently interviewing for a substitute teacher position at BCNC.

Wenjie speaking

Wenjie came to the U.S 3 years ago with his parents. He describes his life in the U.S is like a movie, but there’s still language barrier. In the future, he wants to buy a house and open his own coffee shop.

Again, congratulations to all of our students. We can’t wait to see what you will achieve next in the future.
