Congratulations to the Spring 2023 ESOL for Customer Service Training Program Graduates!

Our ESOL for Customer Service Training Program Spring 2023 cohort celebrated the great work they have done over the past couple months. Students, Amy, Sissi, Angela, Leo, Emily, and Shunzhuang, each shared remarks with about their experience at the graduation. BCNC’s ESOL for Customer Service Training Program is a free training for who are intermediate English language learners seeking full-time entry-level employment in the customer service industry. This program is funded by the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, MassHire Metro North Workforce Board, and is a SNAP Path to Work program.

Amy from Guangdong, China, shared about navigating a job search and cultural differences in the United States. With the support of BCNC, Amy has been able to find a more stable job in a hotel that she’s very excited to start.

Sissi immigrated from Guangdong, China. She spoke about having to face the difficult decision of leaving behind a job and life she enjoyed in China to come to the United States. She also expressed her thanks to our ESOL teacher, Olivia, who helped her improve her professional English skills.

Next, Angela shared her experience of building up confidence in her employment search with the help of BCNC’s career support services. Now that she has graduated, Angela hopes to find a job as a receptionist soon.

Shunzhuang immigrated to the United States from Beijing, China. With the support of BCNC, he wants to reenter the medical devices field, the industry he started a business in when he was living in China.

Leo is from Hong Kong and he completed the class with his wife together. He spoke about the excitement he has and the obstacles he has faced rebuilding his career as an engineer here in the United States.

The other half of the husband and wife duo, Emily, hopes to break into the field of customer service. She also had to leave a secure job in Hong Kong and has learned about the working in the United States through BCNC.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students, and we look forward to seeing where their lives and careers take them!
