Red Oak Summer promotes the growth of children through literacy and arts education in a multicultural and multilingual environment.

Literacy: Children will have an hour block of literacy aligned to their reading standards. During the literacy block, younger students will be interacting with stories that emphasize communication and self-expression. Older students will be engaging with books that will give them an awareness of people’s lives that are different from their own.

Arts: Children will have an hour block of arts taught by our Arts Specialists. Our past arts programming included Drumming, Taichi, and Design and Engineering.

Community Project: In the afternoon, the groups will spend an hour on a community engagement project that integrates with our literacy program. Younger students will learn more and reflect about their own identity and the community around them. Older students will learn more about their own stories and history, the Chinatown community, and ways they can take action in the community.
