Language and image intersect in Wen-ti Tsen’s Inside-Out: Portrait of Vivian Lee, a tribute to the Boston Chinatown activist, Vivian Lee. Based on an interview with Lee, Wen-ti’s work combines her narrative with visuals to honor the struggles and resilience of the community. Wen-ti Tsen will lead this free workshop where participants will learn about the processes and techniques of conducting oral history and art making, interview each other, and discover creative ways of documenting and narrating family and community stories.

About the Artist:

Wen-ti Tsen is a painter and public artist.  He was born in China, lived in Paris and London before coming to the U.S. to study at Boston Museum School. Since the mid-1970s, he has been engaged in making art that explores cultural connections. It takes the forms of paintings and mix-media installations made in the studio; large-scale sculptural works in public places; and community art projects working with grass-root organizations.

From Hudson Street, walk up the stairs and across the deck to the 99 Albany Street entrance. The public parking garage entrance is on Hudson Street. The Pao Arts Center is accessible by the MBTA green, red, and orange lines.
