Resilient Current lead artist Salvador Jiménez-Flores leads us in a drop-in print-making workshop. Come by to make a print and enjoy the last day of Resilient Current.  

Resilient Current is a print making installation in the shape of a fan that contains over 130 original relief prints from the fifth graders of the Josiah Quincy Elementary School. Since the Chinese character for “fan” and the character for “kindness” share the same sound [Shàn], lead artist Salvador Jimenez-Flores thinks of kindness and generosity as a central to the project, using it to speak against hatred, misogyny, and xenophobia.

About the Artist: Salvador Jiménez-Flores is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised is Jalisco, México. Since coming to the United States, Jiménez-Flores has contributed to the Midwest art scene by producing a mixture of socially conscious installation, public, and studio-based art. He has presented his work at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Urban Institute of Contemporary Art, and Casa de la Cultura in Jalisco, México amongst others. He is currently Resident Teaching Artist at Urbano Project and instructor at both Wheelock College and Harvard Ceramics Program, Office of the Arts at Harvard University. Jiménez-Flores received his MFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Drawing and his BAS from Robert Morris University in Chicago, IL. He was recently a 2016-2017 Boston Artist in Residence through Mayor Martin J. Walsh's office.

Directions: The Pao Arts Center is located in the One Greenway building, 99 Kneeland Street. For GPS driving directions, use 66 Hudson Street, Boston, MA 02111. From Hudson Street, walk up the stairs and across the deck to the 99 Albany Street entrance. The public parking garage entrance is on Hudson Street. The Pao Arts Center is accessible by the MBTA green, red, and orange lines.
