Cultural Sampler for Children

Join us for sampler series in traditional Chinese arts. Attend all 4 classes or sign up for a single class. The class is geared towards children ages 5 - 12 years old. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay and create with their child.

Fees: $60 per child for 4 classes | $20 per child for a single class. The fee is non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by BCNC.

Classes are Saturdays: August 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

Saturday, August 5 | Chinese Dance | Click to register for this class | Explore the grace and beauty of Chinese dance with Chu Ling, who brings years of experience both as a performer, choreographer, and teacher from the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy. 

Saturday, August 12 | Chinese Dough Figurines | Click to register for this class | Get your hands sticky with homemade dough! Create fun characters through this rare, ancient craft with Mr. Bing Ngun Leung, one of the few remaining masters and practitioners of this artform in the Boston area.

Saturday, August 19 | Chinese Brush Painting | Click to register for this class | Use a brush to create images of animals, plants, and landscape. Learn about the tools and techniques used in Chinese Brush Painting. Taught by Mei Ching, whose current exhibit, Fantasies of Spring is on view at the Pao Arts Center through August 26. 

Saturday, August 26 | Chinese Lion Dance | Click to register for this class | Usher in prosperity and drive away misfortune by learning an energetic artform that involves athleticism, music, and costuming/ props with Carmen Chan. 

Directions: The Pao Arts Center is located in the One Greenway building, 99 Kneeland Street. For GPS driving directions, use 66 Hudson Street, Boston, MA 02111. From Hudson Street, walk up the stairs and across the deck to the 99 Albany Street entrance. The public parking garage entrance is on Hudson Street. The Pao Arts Center is accessible by the MBTA green, red, and orange lines.
