At a time when immigration policy is at the forefront of our national politics, Palaver Strings hosts two free performances workshops in preparation for their February concert, Seeking Sanctuary, which will showcase the experiences of Irish, Cape Verdean, and Chinese communities. It will feature new music compositions and spoken word personal narratives inspired by the incredible stories of immigrants and their descendants.
Participants will work with Palaver Strings musicians to explore the impact and presence that the music and art of their country of origin has on the city of Boston. Through a performance of music and personal narratives, participants will also be invited to share reflections with an interactive art installation. This art collage, representing the cultures of Ireland, Cape Verde, and China, will be displayed at Palaver Strings’ concerts at the Boston Center for the Arts. Participants will receive free admission to Seeking Sanctuary at the Boston Center for the Arts on February 11.
