In response to the current COVID-19 circumstances, BCNC has made the difficult decision to cancel our Lantern Festival Gala originally scheduled for May 19, 2020.
As our largest fundraising event, we count on the Gala each year to fund our services for Asian and new immigrant families. Thanks to our committed sponsors we reached 75% of our goal to date. Even though we won’t have an event, the need in the Asian and new immigrant community is still real. We rely on generous supporters to make a difference. To provide assistance to families currently in need, please consider making a contribution online. Thank you for your consideration.
We would like to give special thanks to Selina & Joe Chow and Chris & Nancy Oddleifson for their leadership as co-chairs, our wonderful host committee and generous sponsors. We take this opportunity to give special recognition to Peter Chow, whom we had planned to honor at this year’s Gala. Since 2004, Peter and his wife Rosana have been tireless supporters of BCNC and as a committee member and co-chair of our past events, Peter has been a standout leader in supporting our mission of creating pathways to brighter futures.
During these extraordinarily difficult times, BCNC serves a particularly vulnerable population – many of whom are low-income and recent immigrants disproportionately impacted by the current health crisis. Our mission is more important now than ever in providing critical support to members of the community in distress.
BCNC is steadfast in its mission, and we will continue to adapt and respond to the needs of families, even more so now during this challenging time. Our staff have adopted new ways to remain connected with our participants – especially those most at risk – through phone calls, video calls, and the distribution of online resources, to ensure sustained communication and support during this trying time.
We thank you for your continued support and dedication to immigrant families. We are confident that we will weather this storm together.
