The Lantern Festival Gala serves as the biggest fundraiser for BCNC’s holistic, family-centered programs that reach 13,000 children, youth, and adults each year, setting them up for success in school, work, and life. Show your support to immigrant communities to build a more equitable future. BCNC believes when immigrants have the support and resources they need to thrive all of society benefits.

  • 5:00 PM – Sponsors enjoy an exclusive reception at Pao Arts Center.

  • 6:00 PM – All guests gather outside at the iconic Chinatown Gate at Auntie Kay & Uncle Frank Chin Park for cultural performances

  • 6:45 PM – Guests feast a traditional 10 course Chinese banquet at a Chinatown restaurant.

Honorees

Selina Chow

Honoree

For nearly two decades, Selina Chow has been a catalyst to BCNC’s growth as a holistic, family-centered agency supporting predominantly Asian immigrants in the Greater Boston area. Having served on the BCNC Board of Directors for 18 years; nine years of which she was Board President from 2007 to 2016, Selina’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s accomplishments. This includes BCNC’s expansion to a second facility in Quincy and the physical build out and operational launch of Pao Arts Center. She holds a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.S. from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Selina’s extensive experience in strategy and financial management, as well as devotion to community development and engagement have been critical to BCNC’s success. 

Betty Szeto

Honoree

Betty Szeto has been a dedicated volunteer and member of the BCNC Board of Directors for 30 years. She began as a volunteer for BCNC with her Blue Cross Blue Shield colleagues and eventually joined the BCNC Board. Betty played a pivotal role in the organization’s first capital campaign, which led to the construction of its current Boston location on 38 Ash Street. As a former healthcare professional, Betty spent time working with underserved communities through the U.S. Public Health Service in urban Native Americans reservations and at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Her deep passion for helping others continues to shine through her contributions to BCNC.

Tiffany Chan

Host

Tiffany Chan is the weekend morning anchor for WBZ-TV. During the week, you can find her reporting in the 5-6:30pm newscasts and out at community events. Chan is a proud partner of Team Impact, a non-profit that pairs children with chronic illnesses with college athletic teams. She highlights the organization monthly on WBZ. As a Suffolk University alum, she is passionate about mentoring the next generation of journalists - frequently speaking at university panels and attending on-campus events. Chan is also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) and strives to be a voice for communities of color.

Duo Chinoiserie 

Founded in 2016, Duo Chinoiserie has emerged as an unparalleled musical phenomenon, captivating audiences with their transcendent performances. Duo Chinoiserie is spearheaded by Chinese guzheng virtuoso Xia Jing and classical guitarist Hu Bin. Duo Chinoiserie weaves together the elegance of the Chinoiserie style, seamlessly blending Eastern and Western cultures through their extraordinary musical interpretations. They have been proudly presented by esteemed presenters such as the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts, Arizona Arts Live, Arizona Friends of Chamber Music, St. Andrew’s Bach Society, Tucson Guitar Society, Qinling International Guitar Festival, and many others. Boston Korean Traditional Dance 

Led by choreographer and teacher Jessica Park, Boston Korean Dance Academy has been teaching and performing traditional Korean dance in New England for over 20 years. They are proud to represent Korea's cultural heritage with traditional folk dance. This dance is called jangguchum, during which they will play hourglass-shaped drums with two heads. This drum, called janggu, is the most representative drum in traditional Korean music. BKTD welcomes new students, both adults and children. They practice every Saturday afternoon in Maynard, MA. Nüwa Athletic Club  

Based in Boston, MA, the Nüwa Athletic Club provides an environment for Asian American girls and women to enhance their physical and emotional development through teamwork, sportsmanship and cultural activities which includes but is not limited to lion dance. Learn more.
