Join the Pao Arts Center and Fresh Ink Theatre in this play development process. The Ink Spot staged reading series is a platform for playwrights to hear their scripts out loud and with an audience – often for the very first time! Join us for these one-night-only events to be part of the development process and share your thoughts about the play with the creators.

Hortense Gerardo - The Token Fallopians of Middleton Heights | November 2 | 6:30 - 8:00pm

The Token Fallopians of Middleton Heights is a dark comedy that follows Meena and her Filipino family as they assimilate to life in a Midwestern suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.  The play traces the historical events that reflect the political divide in America today, refracted through the lens of the Asian-American immigrant experience.

Greg Lam - Repossesed | November 16 | 6:30 - 8:00pm

Rich and Gretchen have the ideal marriage...until the company that manufactured and implanted that marriage into their heads inform them that they can no longer afford it. Will their marriage survive when their memories and personalities are repossessed by the company that owns them?

About the Playwright:  Hortense Gerardo is a writer and anthropologist. Recent produced works include: The Song Of Odd at the MBL Club, Death In Venice Beach at the 44th Annual Playwrights’ Platform Festival, Shadow|Proof House at the Spadina Museum as part of the Nuit Blanche Festival, Toronto, Kith And Tell at the Boston Theater Marathon and the Playwrights’ Platform Summer Festival, Family Tree at the Hovey 24-Hour Playfest, For The Love Of Egon at the Boston Theatre Marathon, Random Thoughts On Contemplating The Possibility Of Love At First Sight While Viewing Art at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, The Day Project, a video installation work exhibited at the Buzzards Bay Film Festival, Model Behavior and The Last Glance at La Mama E.T.C., NYC. Her puppet play, The Rosewater of Dona Felicidad was produced at MIT and at Lasell College. Her feature-length script Dancing In Exile won a screenwriting award at Woods Hole Film Festival. The feature film of her screenplay Fourhand, won the Audience Choice Award in the Woods Hole Film Festival, and two awards in the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre Filmmaker Takeover. Her short film, Infinite Corridor, premieres in 2017 at the Performance Mix Festival 31 in NYC. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, The International Center for Women Playwrights, current Chairperson of the Playwrights' Platform, and Director of the non-profit organization, in vivo Productions.

Directions: The Pao Arts Center is located in the One Greenway building, 99 Kneeland Street. For GPS driving directions, use 66 Hudson Street, Boston, MA 02111. From Hudson Street, walk up the stairs and across the deck to the 99 Albany Street entrance. The public parking garage entrance is on Hudson Street. The Pao Arts Center is accessible by the MBTA green, red, and orange lines.
