Red Oak After School & Summer Program provides families with licensed after school child care for children ages 5-13 during both the school year and summer. Red Oak promotes children’s growth through literacy and arts education in a multicultural and multilingual environment. *Boston only.

Who:     Children ages 5 - 13 years old

Where:  Josiah Quincy Elementary School, 885 Washington Street and BCNC, 38 Ash Street, Boston

When:    

  • Session 1: Monday, July 1 - Friday, July 27 (Closed on July 4) | 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
  • Session 2: Monday, July 30 - Friday, August 24 | 8:30 am - 6:00 pm

What:     Arts Enrichment Classes, Literacy Activities, Outdoor Games, Wednesday Field Trips

Through visual arts and music classes, BCNC engages children in creative expression to improve children's academic skills, social-emotional development, and language development.Through engaging literacy activities and projects, BCNC supports children to become critical thinkers with strong reading and writing skills, as well as reflective citizens that can come to a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them. 

Sample Arts Classes include: Visual arts through studying birds, Learning percussion, Creative Construction, Funk & Self-Expression

Example Field Trips: New England Aquarium, Museum of Fine Arts, Rock Climbing, Rose Kennedy Greenway

  • 8:30 am    Arrival and Free Choice
  • 9:30 am    Morning Meeting
  • 10:00 am  Literacy Activities
  • 10:30 am  Art Class
  • 11:30 am  Recess
  • 12:00 pm  Lunch
  • 1:00 pm    Music Class
  • 2:00 pm    Recreation (Gym/Pool)
  • 3:00 pm    Snack
  • 3:30 pm    Chinatown Study
  • 5:30 pm    Dismissal

Cost and Enrollment:

Cost per session is $440 to $1,300 depending on family size and income. BCNC uses a sliding fee scale and has both private tuition and publicly subsidized slots.
