The STEP into Healthcare (Skills Training for Entry-level Positions in Healthcare) Program is a free training for intermediate-advanced English language learners seeking full-time entry-level employment in the healthcare industry. This program is held in partnership with Tufts Medicine, Beth Israel Lahey Health, the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, MassHire Metro North Workforce Board and is a SNAP Path to Work program.

Get your “foot in the door” at one of the excellent hospitals in Greater Boston with career advancement and great employee benefits. BCNC partners with Tufts Medicine and Beth Israel Lahey Health to ensure our training prepares students for hospital employment and gives a foundation for success.

Our FREE training includes:

  • Skills for communicating with patients, visitors, and colleagues

  • Computer and phone skills

  • English for work

  • Job search and interview practice

  • One-on-one help every week with finding and keeping a job!

  • OSHA-10 Training and Certification

  • Eligible students may receive up to 4 monthly T-passes

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:45am-1:15pm - lunch break included!

  • 3 hours homework per week

  • 1 hour of 1-1 career counseling weekly

  • 16 hours of class total every week

  • Course length: 12 weeks

Cost: Free

Requirements:

  • Live in Greater Boston area

  • Low-income

  • Available to work 30 or more hours per week

  • Be a non-native English speaker with Intermediate English
