Celebrated Yoyo Yau's 13 Years of Service
/After 13 impactful years with BCNC, Yoyo Yau stepped down as Chief Program Officer to take on the Executive Director position at Bridges Homeward, an agency serving children, teens, and families based in Cambridge. On September 5th, we came together to celebrate and show our appreciation of Yoyo Yau. During her tenure at BCNC, Yoyo has served as the Director of Family Services, Director of Programs, and Chief Program Officer. She advanced BCNC’s family centered approach, supervised and mentored staff, led efforts in research and evaluation, and developed external partnerships and collaborations.
BCNC CEO Ben Hires shared, “She has grown as a leader and at the same time helped BCNC grow its presence and impact on Asian and immigrant families. I have been impressed with her passion, empathy, and hard work.”
Grace Su, BCNC Director of Family Services, first met Yoyo when she first joined as a Family Connector. Reflecting on her relationship, Grace said, “Thank you for the 13 years that you’ve poured your heart into the community and the organization, from bringing in best practices to BCNC to enhance our overall programming, to mentoring staff and interns, to ensuring that program directors received support, to the numerous community projects you’ve either led or took part in.”
Board member and chair of the Program Committee, Shari Narva, expressed her thanks to Yoyo for not only serving the Asian community, but also bringing together people from other immigrant communities to address problem gambling.
Yoyo took time to thank each department and staff for their hard work and dedication, and encouraged staff to not see this as a “good-bye”, but more as a “see you again.”
