BCNC's Family Fun Fair brings 2,000 attendees together to enjoy fun activities and performances in Quincy

On June 21st, BCNC Quincy’s Family Fun Fair brought together 2,000 children, families, and community members for a day of free activities, performances, and cultural fun for the whole family. Guests enjoyed tackling the bouncy obstacle courses, petting baby animals, creating sand bottle art, playing with balloon animals, and more. Thanks to our generous sponsors and donors, we raised $28,000 to strengthen immigrant families with youth leadership and college access programs, adult English classes to prepare for college and career, and family counseling and parenting workshops in Quincy.

Paul Bi, co-chair of the BCNC Quincy’s Leadership Council and BCNC Board Member, kicked off the Fair with a warm welcome. Senator Keenan provided remarks emphasizing importance of supporting the community and families. BCNC Family Services staff, Ying-Chen Wang served as the MC and interpreter for the fair. Special thanks to our volunteers including employees from State Street Corporation for helping the fair run smoothly.

Children tested their STEM skills with a STEM challenge by Quincy Coders and drew self portraits hosted by Boston Children’s Museum. Children also created their own flower crowns with Pao Arts Center, planted flowers with Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association of Greater Lowell, tested their reading skills with an activity hosted by Everett Haitian Community Center, and enjoyed face painting provided by the Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Boston. ACCESS engaged families in panda-themed arts and crafts.

For parents, this Fair also offers important health and educational resources. Tufts Medicine provided health screenings, and BCNC programs distributed flyers for classes, child care, parenting workshops, and mental health support services. The Building Our Bonds Authentically (BOBA) Project conducted outreach to support their research on how Asian teens and their families feel about issues related to Asian and Asian American identity.

The Fair culminated with a pie eating contest with the lucky winners taking home a gift card and prizes.

Thank you to all those who helped make this event possible:
