BCNC Portrait: Grace Su

Grace Su immigrated to Boston in 1999 from Guangdong, China when she was in third grade. To Grace, BCNC was her second home as she participated in BCNC youth programs.

BCNC gave me a place to stay when my family had to work late hours. The staff were always friendly, approachable, and wanted to know me as a person,” says Grace.

After she received her Master of Social Work, she joined the BCNC team as a Family Connector. Now, Grace is the Director of BCNC Family Services and leads a team of clinical staff and interns that provides culturally and linguistically appropriate behavioral and mental health support services to Chinese speaking immigrants.

As an immigrant myself and having seen the struggles my family had trying to make a living, I understand the importance of BCNC and the significant role it holds in serving the immigrant community,” shared Grace.

Her hopes and dreams include completing her doctorate in clinical social work, starting a private practice, and teaching in social work programs because mentoring social work students has always been her passion. Her dream at BCNC is to continue to expand affordable, culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health services.

Grace explains, “Amidst a mental health crisis among the Asian population, I hope that we will be able to expand our mental health services to reach more people in need.”
