On Friday, July 22, 2022, BCNC CEO, Ben Hires, Chief Program Officer, Yoyo Yau, and Dr. Heang Rubin presented important findings on problem gambling in the Asian community at the National Conference on Responsible Gambling. They highlighted the many causes of problem gambling in the Asian community and presented a community project in Everette called Project RISE (Resilient Immigrants Striving for Equity) to provide community-based strategies for problem gambling prevention.

Demand for mental health care rising in Asian American communities as more speak openly of struggles

For many Asian immigrants and first or second-generation Asian Americans, mental health is rarely discussed because of cultural differences or simply not having access to resources. At BCNC, we worked to secure state funding to assist in mental health programming for families and youth. Destigmatizing mental health, starting a conversation and increase the number of trained bilingual professionals can be key to helping the Asian American communities.

Lantern Festival Gala - A Sold-Out Success

This Tuesday on May 17, 2022, BCNC and attendees came together for an in-person gala to restore and empower Asian and new immigrant families. The gala is BCNC’s biggest event and fundraiser for the year, and raised nearly $500,000. The Gala includes a ceremonial lantern lighting with all VIPs and attendees, followed by a traditional 10 course Chinese banquet.
